We use them in an easy-to-make, family-favorite recipe that we like for a delicious breakfast or an afternoon snack:
1/2 C (pick one of the following choices): OJ, almond or soy milk, or apple juice
1 frozen banana
1/2 C frozen strawberries
1/2 C plain yogurt
1/4 C of ice (optional if you like a firmer, chilled-style smoothie)
Optional: You can add a handful or two of spinach and 1/4 of blueberries for added nutrition benefits, or 1 T of almond butter for extra protein and healthy fats.
Directions: Place all ingredients in a blender; start with liquid first. Blend for 30-60 second, depending on your blender. Pour into glass or reusable sippy to-go cup (that fits a straw), and enjoy!
Yield: one serving.
