Green Smoothie

OK, so I admit, not the prettiest smoothie. However, looks aside, a green smoothie packs an intense amount of nutrients. Plus it is quick to make and drink, especially for us time-strapped moms.

As far as what goes in it, think all green vegetables: kale, spinach, cabbage, and celery--you get the idea. Experiment with veggies you like.

I usually will add one green apple to help improve the taste, though frankly, I've been drinking them so long that I actually like the taste of them now.

Green Smoothie

Ingredients (preferably organic):

2 ribs of celery
2 c of spinach
1 head of kale
1 cucumber
1 green apple
1 inch slice of fresh ginger
1/2 juice of fresh lemon
1/2 cup of water, or add more for desired consistency

You can juice all of the above ingredients if you have an electric juicing machine, but I prefer to get the whole food form including fiber, and use my blender.

Directions:

Wash all produce, and place in blender. Blend for 30-60 seconds until all ingredients are fully blended. Pour into a tall glass and drink immediately.

I drink one of these every morning, and sometimes for an afternoon snack. You will gain a ton of energy from this, and your skin will glow. It would be great for your kids too, if they will try it. :)
